We always have a turkey, stuffing (dressing I guess some people call it), mashed potatoes, peas and corn, gravy, bread and sometimes cranberry sauce (just the stuff from the can). We've also had mashed sweet potatoes, it just depends if someone wants to make them. For dessert I always make about 4 pumpkin pies, one giant apple pie, and some other new pie (has been chocolate chess pie, peach cobbler, etc). I think for this and all other Thanksgivings to come we'll probably add in a picadillo.
My favorite Thanksgiving food is stuffing. I would rather eat that than the mashed and sweet potatoes that are usually offered. My second favorite is my mom's homemade cranberry sauce. I could eat the whole bowl!!!
We always have turkey, cornbread dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy, Lima beans, sweet potato casserole, cranberry sauce, and rolls.
My favorite is Mom's cornbread dressing. Yummy!
A big gathering for us was me, my husband, my dad, and my mom. Dad died in 2009. My husband and I divorced over the summer. Mom is still cooking the traditional meal. Her boyfriend might join us. His family has the evening meal. We eat the big meal at lunch and have leftovers for supper.
Urg, too much! Turkey, stuffing, gravy, mashed potatoes, whipped sweet potatoes, green beans, broccoli casserole, corn, cranberry sauce, rolls, pumpkin pie, coconut cream pie, and chocolate cake. Not to mention the appetizers... shrimp cocktail, assorted veggies with cucumber dip, chips with artichoke spinach dip. And wine. Lots of wine.
This is what I like:
- stuffed turkey
- stuffing made by me (cannot stand the store bought one)
- mashed potatoes
- baked yam, with pecans and honey on top
- some steamed green veggies like green beans, broccoli, or even bok choy
- a simple tossed salad
- cranberry sauce made from fresh cranberries
- sometimes also corn or carrots
(everything is made from fresh ingredients, no canned or boxed food)
dessert:
- vanilla ice cream with warm apple pie / pumpkin pie

Same here! My mom's stuffing recipe is THE BEST & that's the only food I care about on TG!...I know, everyone thinks their mom's cooking is the best. Otherwise, I eat turkey regularly throughout the year.
Turkey
Chicken and dressing (not stuffing as stuffing doesn't contain meat according to my grandmother and it has conbread and regular bread in it)
Homemade cranberry sauce (my specialty)
Candied yams
fresh yeast rolls
green bean casserole
pumpkin pie
pumpkin pie cheesecake
