I personally spring for bowties, but I've never been uncomfortable in a tie...

I hate ties. I mean they look great, but I sometimes have trouble breathing as it is, and a tie only constricts my breathing further. It makes me feel like all the steam is going to my head and can't be released.

I almost never wear a tie anymore unless it's a special occasion. I wear a stop watch which lends some professionalism but also utility.

Yeah, I don't like them either. It feels like you're being strangled slowly throughout the day. On the other hand, I see a picture of myself in a tie and like what I see, so it's tough.

Reminds me of a Mitch Hedberg joke!

The whole clip is funny but skip to 4:58 for the joke

My dad owns one tie. It's a clip-on. Seriously.

I can't imagine having to deal with those.

No idea how I stumbled across this post, but I've been reading many of the responses and had to chime in (after having a good laugh, of course).

I've never been one for fashion, but over the past couple of years I've really started to find my "sense of style." I love feeling "girly" but hate spending a lot of money on clothes. Therefore, I do a lot of bargain shopping (i.e. thrift stores) and finding the perfect cute dress to wear with pumps gives me a sense of accomplishment.

Anyway, I don't wear high heels but I LOVE pumps and kitten heels. I have to wear the Mary Jane styles or t-straps or else they slip off my heel. This is also why I don't wear flats. Not only do pumps make me feel girly, but I have to admit I love the sound of my heels clicking on the floor.

I did a lot of research on "teacher shoes" before getting my job and was really bummed to see that the typical comfortable "teacher shoe" was definitely not my style. However, I did find brand names like Born and Naturalizer and after doing some digging on Ebay I found some really great shoes that were really affordable. I recently found a pair of red Aerosoles on Shoes.com that have completed my basic collection of pumps. I now have a pair of browns, blacks, and reds.

Here are the reds that I have:

My black pair and brown pair are different brands, but a similar style. My co-workers think I am crazy wearing heels, but my feet don't hurt at the end of the day - that's a well made shoe for ya!

they think those heels are crazy? They'd go insane for mine:

Neither here nor there
Roobunny~I wear pumps and kitten heels to work too...for the same reason to hear them click down the hall... I have a coworker that is already tall and she always wears heels. I think they make me more girly too!

Cza - I love the shoes, but would never be able to wear those! They are insane!

Smalltown - I live in jeans, t-shirts, and Chuck Taylors every weekend so when I get the chance to dress up at work I take advantage of being able to feel like a girl
