We've used various block schedule models off and on for the last 5 years. Creative teachers loved it. Teachers who have used the textbook-provided lesson plans for the last 10 years hated it.

I've already shared my opinion (loved block scheduling), but I wanted to add my husband's which is the same. He loved being responsible for ony four classes a semester because it allowed him to give enough energy and effort to his sports as well.
