Thesis Advice- music/art/drama

Now that I'm pretty much done with my credential program, I need to begin focusing on completing my Thesis so I can resume/finish my MA. My program will grant me an MA in Theatre for Youth. My thesis is about the Harlem Renaissance. I've always felt that the focus is exclusively on literature of that era and often ignores many of the other art forms (Ie., music, art, photography, drama, etc.) I'm curious if music and art teachers cover the Harlem Renaissance at all, and if so, what do you teach?

I don't teach this time period, but my first thought would be the Apollo Theater...in fact, the theater not only played a part in the original Harlem Renaissance, but continues to be a major player in the renewed Harlem Renaissance.

Jacob Lawrence and his Migration series. His wife, Gwendolyn Knight, was also an artist. I taught a unit to elementary kids comparing Jacob Lawrence's paintings to Picasso's and included notes about the Harlem Renaissance as historical context so we could analyze J.L.'s paintings.

Thesis is a really important part of your education and you must carefully choose the topic and I think you have chosen a really nice topic for your thesis.

English / Geography
During my last 2 weeks of subbing before leaving my old school I was covering the Harlem Renaissance.
the teacher completely left it up to me, so i tried to make sure I included a lot of the components, not just the "English" part.
I showed a few slides shows from Youtube about all the visual arts (paintings, scultpture, etc), did a class on jazz and blues (origin, showed some recordings, analyzed how the music was different in regards to audience, purpose, origin, etc). Learned about the time frame, important people.
Did an overview of all the artform during this era, learned about some of the most important names. Read one story from Zora Neale Hurston, a few poems from several potes, analyzed them all, etc.
There is so much to cover, and literature is just one part of it.
